Who Ended Contract with Marvel

To maintain this impressive level of casting on its long storytelling style, Marvel Studios gets most of their cast members with multi-movie contracts. We dug a little deeper to find out how many movies everyone had left. Where official information is available, we have used it as a source. We have tried to fill in the gaps with our own assumptions. We`ll keep this incredibly long list up to date as we learn more. Given the end of Avengers: Endgame and the potential for permanent deaths, major spoilers are coming. Below, we`ll walk you through the main news about Marvel contracts, including quotes from many of the MCU`s most important players who will remain in Marvel Phase 4 and beyond. It even includes a look at the story that not everyone can stop: Spider-Man is back in the MCU. Inevitably, questions were asked about Josh Brolin`s future in the MCU after Thanos` defeat in Avengers: Endgame.

His contract hasn`t gathered dust yet – because he doesn`t have a multi-image agreement. “I`m on a one-to-one movie basis,” he said in an interview with Variety. Avengers: Endgame is just around the corner (our box office comparison measures how it compares to other contemporary franchise findings) and thus the conclusion of the first iteration of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although the MCU will continue again and again until movie theaters are completely closed in favor of electrical signals broadcast directly into our brains, many stars of the franchise will make their release. This means that this is the perfect time for a status update on how long our heroes and protagonists will stay in this world. Just like Don Cheadle, Mark Ruffalo was almost not in the MCU. The Golden Globe winner took on the role of Bruce Banner a.k.a. Hulk in The Avengers of 2012 after the resignation of Edward Norton after The Incredible Hulk of 2008. In a 2020 interview with Variety, Ruffalo noted how shocked and happy he is to be able to play the great green hero, and constantly remembers it when making a Marvel movie.

After admitting that he can sometimes get upset on set when things take too long, he revealed that he`d be like, “Hey, remember that you shouldn`t even be there.” He added that he feared his bosses “would kick me out of the club. I never had my place here and they will all find out. With the huge success of WandaVision and its great storytelling, it`s actually interesting to note that Wanda Maximoff and Vision only had a handful of screen time together in the Marvel Cinematic Universe before the series. But obviously, that was the case for years. Wanda was an important character, but she never wore a film or had responsibilities like that. But that`s changing, and it`s these rich stories for Wanda that bring Elizabeth Olsen back. And oddly enough, with her unique Marvel contracts, she`s not tied to as many images as the other actors in the MCU. [Spoiler Alert: Spoilers Coming for WandaVision]. We know that Stan has signed a huge nine-frame contract with Marvel, which gives him enough room to return to the big screen after his Disney+ series.

Bucky Barnes could very well stay for a while (if he comes back from snapping). Dave Bautista is technically still under contract to star in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. He was the loudest in his support for James Gunn when he was fired. Now that Gunn is back in the Marvel herd, we expect Bautista to return as Drax. Clint Barton has been with the MCU for some time and has survived countless enemies, even though he only used bows and arrows. Despite his long time at Marvel, he actually had only one lead role in four films and a small appearance in Thor. He`ll star in his own Disney+ series, Hawkeye, slated for release in late 2021, but Renner may be done with his character after that. In a March 2021 interview with Esquire, Bettany was asked if he would play Vision forever. “I like vision. Yes, I am,” he said.

He also recalled that he was afraid of being fired after Avengers: Endgame, and that he was thrilled when he was introduced to the idea of WandaVision. While Mackie`s huge contract showed hopes that he would become Captain America of the Falcon and the Winter Soldier, other contracts had less hope. Elizabeth Olsen also headlined her own series with WandaVision, but Olsen only signed two films at the start of her contract: a sign of how much her performance influenced the MCU`s plans. For Robert Downey Jr., who helped create the MCU, the contracts were mostly film-to-film, as the need for Iron Man gave Downey and Marvel the opportunity to use each other. Olsen will star alongside Paul Bettany`s Vision in an upcoming limited series for Disney+. Other than that, the details of their two Marvel contracts have not been made public. He probably signed the standard contract for six films (which was apparently a sticking point that led Joaquin Phoenix to leave the role). They`re also officially working on Doctor Strange 2, so that`s good. But being on the edge of things also had its advantages. During a press tour in 2020 (via CBR), Cheadle mentioned that he wanted to see Rhodey do different things in the future: “I`d really like to immerse myself in him and maybe even find something that feels closer to the first Iron Man for what he was.” When asked what Marvel Studios could do with the character, he added, “I think they can go anywhere with him now.” (There are too many actors to list, so let`s put them in the same bag. Treat it.) Tom Holland has stated that he has signed a contract for six films, and we know he will be with the Avengers at least until the end of Phase 3.

It also has a Homecoming sequel already in the box and although it`s dark, it seems likely that Sony and Marvel Studios will continue their collaboration in a third De Spidey movie. After that, however, the future is less certain for the wallcrawler, as Sony and Marvel are expected to strike a new deal. When asked by The Hollywood Reporter in 2019 if she would like to play Agent Maria Hill for the rest of her life, the actress replied, “I`d love that!” She continued: “I love being a part of the Marvel world. It is a magical, wonderful place, filled only with kind, caring, considerate and creative people. She added that she has no idea what awaits the MCU or its character, but at least we can count on Cobie to show up every time she gets the call! Although Captain America took his hammer in Endgame (Thor still had his trusty Stormbreaker), Thor will probably hang around. The film involved the future adventures of Thor/Guardians of the Galaxy (“Asgardians of the Galaxy”). Hemsworth has expressed interest in making a Thor 4 beyond his current contract, with a possible return of Taika Waititi as director. The distribution rights to a Hulk solo film still belong to Universal, which is the main reason why Feige and Co.

did not try to revive the franchise after the poorly received Incredible Hulk of 2008, with Edward Norton. Ruffalo himself has spoken openly about the six-film deal he signed with Marvel, making it one of the few basic Avengers that could return contractually after Avengers 4. Our prediction: Bruce Banner and the Hulk characters split up at the end of Endgame, allowing Ruffalo to continue the role in human form if both parties agree. She told CinemaBlend in 2019 that “there are so many amazing and talented women in the MCU that I just want to work with selfishly.” Keep fighting the good fight, Valkyrie, because we`d all love to see him too. While most Marvel movies have some sort of substance, WandaVision is really full of characterizations for Wanda that she`s never had before. Viewers, of course, spend a lot more time with her and her vision, and Olsen really gets to know her better than ever. It`s common knowledge that Chris Evans has expressed interest in letting superheroes focus on making movies instead. Recently, however, he has spoken openly about being ready for whatever Marvel wants to do with Cap, although he says he sees Avengers: Endgame as a kind of farewell to his performance. And how could you not do that? This is the perfect conclusion to Cap`s journey in the MCU. At the time of this release, Renner is 50 years old, which suggests that his Hawkeye series could really be his last attempt as Clint Barton. unless Marvel`s costume designers can find something less sticky. Although Elizabeth Olsen plays an important role in the MCU, she has not made public the details of her Marvel contract.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed that she has signed a six- to eight-episode contract for the upcoming WandaVision, and that she has at least one other film ahead of her: Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. For many MCU actors, this “lockdown” had been a deterrent, as Chris Evans was fighting for his six-film contract instead of the nine that Marvel demanded of him. Now that Marvel is the highest-grossing franchise of all time and has more than doubled the total gross box office of the second place, Star Wars, it has become an exaggeration to lock in superstars with pen and paper in multi-movie deals. Oscar winners like Mahershala Ali and Angelina Jolie had plenty of bait for pop culture impact, pay-per-movie, and the general pleasure of being in the MCU celebrity clubhouse — and the promise of a ball and chain game would have been just a hindrance to boarding. From Feige`s statement, it seems that high-profile actors would be much more willing to dip their toes into the MCU if there is no mandatory commitment for six or seven films. .
